Questions, answered plainly.

How is "first-year value" calculated?

Welcome bonus plus earn rates against your actual spending, minus the annual fee — using only the figures we hold for each card, and leaving out any we have not confirmed.

How do you make money if it's unbiased?

Today it doesn't: PointsExplained has no affiliate partnerships and earns nothing from card issuers. Rankings are driven by value to you, by the same rules for every card — and we show the math.

Where do the card details come from?

The issuer's own published terms, and in some countries the regulator's own product data. Where we hold a figure we print it; where we don't, we leave it blank and say so rather than guess.
